Pintor, ilustrador y ante todo fotografo froamericano nacido en Harlem DeCarava fué famoso por la edicion de un libro junto al poeta Langston Hughes en 1955 sobre la vida y resurgir de Harlem.
DeCarava fué el primer fotógrafo afroamericano en ganar un Guggenheim comunión y fue galardonado con la Medalla Nacional de las Artes en 2006.
Comenzó haciendo fotografias para la creacion de sus ilustraciones, pero terminó especializado en captar la luz natural y creando un estilo fotografico que impacta por la amplitud de angulo y la calided que muestra sus fotos en blanco y negro.

Painter, illustrator and foremost photographer born in Harlem froamericano DeCarava was famous for the edition of a book by the poet Langston Hughes in 1955 on the resurgence of Harlem life.
DeCarava was the first black photographer to win a Guggenheim fellowship and was awarded the National Medal of Arts in 2006.
He started making photographs for the creation of her artwork, but ended up specializing in capturing natural light and creating a photographic style that impacts the breadth of angle and quality that shows his black and white photos.
